Democratic Lawmaker to Introduce Bill Bringing More Medicaid Money to the State

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013 -- 8:20 AM

-As state and federal officials gather in Madison to discuss progress being made on implementing the health care overhaul law, a Democratic lawmaker plans to introduce a bill to bring more Medicaid money to Wisconsin.

State Rep. Melissa Sargent plans to discuss her plan today that would allow Wisconsin counties to get federal money to pay for expanded Medicaid services, sidestepping Republican Gov. Scott Walker and the GOP-controlled Legislature.

At a separate event, those deeply involved with implementing the law are scheduled to discuss progress.

Scheduled participants include Kathleen Falk, director of a regional office of the federal Department of Health and Human Services and Kevin Moore, deputy secretary of the state department.
