Memorial Medical Center Wins 2014 Women's Choice Award

Monday, December 9th, 2013 -- 9:25 AM

-Memorial Medical Center of Neillsville was awarded as one of the Best Hospitals in Patient Experience in Emergency Care by the 2014 Women?s Choice Award.

I spoke with David Baltzer, Interim CEO of MMC, and Jodi Johnson, Vice President of Patient Care Services at MMC, about the award.

Both Mr. Baltzer and Miss Johnson said that they are still learning about the award itself as they were chosen for this national award, out of the blue, without any solicitation by MMC.

Mr. Baltzer said that they would have not received this award without everyone?s help at MMC.

Mr. Baltzer said, "I think it's important to recognize the fact that although the emergency department services are being recognized with the 2014 Women's Choice Award, that the emergency department is apart of a continuum of care that frequently involves the ambulance service, which is of very high quality lead by its manager Ken Marg, and for 8 years Dr. Jim Stanga has been the medical director of EMS Services at no charge to the community as he is paid by Memorial Medical Center. And then patients come to use and they are registered by nice people at the receptions desk and treated by the nurses and doctors."

MMC will be recognized for the award in an issue of USA Today being printed on January 31st. Stay tuned for more tomorrow and make sure you tune to 1370AM WCCN at 9am on Wednesday morning for a bonus edition of the In Depth Program about the award.
