Marshfield Company Accepts DNA Samples for Testing Purposes

-Wisconsin residents are storing DNA samples for future medical and other testing, taking advantage of a Marshfield company's DNA Banking Day services.PreventionGenetics in Marshfield held the event on Monday during which 30 people provided DNA samples to be stored with the hope it can be used to improve the health of future generations.
Genetic testing often makes early detection and intervention possible for the DNA depositor and other family members, so the onset of hereditary disease symptoms can be prevented or delayed and the effects of the disease minimized.
Donna Dorshorst, director of DNA banking at PreventionGenetics, said that it's important for young, healthy individuals to make sure a sample is available in case a sudden illness or tragic accident occurs.
