Alice in Dairyland Cut First Christmas Tree of the Season at R&S Tree Farm

Monday, November 18th, 2013 -- 8:28 AM

-Alice in Dairyland, Kristin Olson, paid a visit to Clark County on Friday and her first visit was to R&S Tree Farm located on Highway G near Neillsville.

Kristin took the time to educate the citizens and the Neillsville 4th graders about the importance of our Christmas Tree Farming Industry and its value to the economy on an annual basis. The 4th graders were very happy to be outside and learning about agriculture from Alice. They also got to see some trees get wrapped before they are sent off.

Bob Knoop, the owner of R&S Tree Farms, also told the kids about the lengthy process that goes into preparing the trees every year, which includes planting new trees, sheering the trees to the perfect shape, taking off the pine cones and starting to cut the ones that get shipped out of state come October.

The tree that the kids picked out with Kristin, who then cut it down for them, will go to the Neillsville School District for everyone to enjoy.
