Fall Sports Wrap Up and 2014-2015 District Calendar at the Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard a wrap up of the fall sports season for the district.District Administrator Bob Houts walked the Board through a report created by athletic director, Brian Lewison, on the results of the junior high and high school fall athletic seasons. The report also included the numbers of athletes who completed both seasons.
35 boys played high school football while 19 boys played junior high. There were 18 girls in the high school volleyball program, with 17 junior high girls playing. 18 students completed the cross country season.
A draft of the 2014-15 District calendar was also presented to the Board for their review. The calendar has also been provided to the staff.
The calendar is very similar to this year?s calendar. The Teacher In-service Day has been moved from late February to mid-October, as it was this year. Input from the staff indicates that the elementary teachers would like the day to go back to a vacation day because of the two late nights of parent/teacher conferences that week. Junior high/high school staff seems to prefer the in-service in October with the vacation day in February. The Board will continue discussions of the 2014-15 calendar at the December meeting.
