Water and Sewer Rates at Neillsville City Council

Friday, October 25th, 2013 -- 9:19 AM

-The Neillsville City Council handled Public Works items at their meeting on Thursday.

The regular common council meeting was moved to Thursday due to the special election primary being held Tuesday night.

The council approved to keep their sewer utility rates as they are. As of now the rates are ?holding their own? and the account is in the black, so the city council had to approve to keep rates the same for now. However, it was mentioned that in the future, the city could take some point hits from the DNR this spring and with the phosphorous removal that all cities have to comply with, according to the DNR, there may be an increase in the future.

The council also had to approve the start date for the Water Rate increase. The start date is December 2nd, but the increase won?t be reflected on resident?s bills until April. The water account is good for now and with the increase the city will be able to take care of come capital projects next year.
