New Info Regarding Toddler Hit by a Train in Taylor County

Friday, July 2nd, 2021 -- 1:00 PM

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department has released some new information regarding a two-year-old boy that was killed by a train in Lublin Tuesday night.

The investigation into the accident continues, but the Sheriff’s Department says they’re getting conflicting reports at the moment.  It’s not known why the child was unattended, but the department is getting reports that the child was being watched by an 11-year-old, or a baby sister, or whether the parents had the child.

The child didn’t appear to be in the middle of the tracks, but he was next to them.  The train appeared to be going normal speeds, but they’re not sure if the horn was sounded.  It appears the train was doing everything it was supposed to.

Officials said this wasn’t the first time they’ve had reports of a child close to the tracks.  The Sheriff’s Department said it has yet to be determined if any charges will be filed in the case.
