Neillsville Finance Committee Prepares 2041 Budget, Part 5

Thursday, October 17th, 2013 -- 8:09 AM

-The Neillsville Finance Committee continues to hear reports from various departments as they prepare the 2014 budget.

During the Public Works portion of the meeting, Dave Flynn went over the future non-budgeted projects that need to be done.

Total reconstruction needs to be done on West Eighteenth Street from Grand Avenue to Pitcher Street, on Grand Avenue from West Second Street to West Fourth Street and Prospect Street from West Fourteenth Street to Willow Street. The cost for each project was projected at $28,680, $121,600, $83,580, and $69,740.

The committee also discussed lighting as Mayor Mabie has received pressure to install a street light by the Neillsville Retirement Community. Dave said that requests like that need to be looked at because each street light costs the city $13 per month which adds up quickly. There is also talk about replacing street signs which would cost over $50,000 to do the entire city.
