Marshfield Man Pleads Not Guilty for his Part in Grocery Store Robbery

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 -- 12:03 PM

-A Marshfield man has pleaded not guilty for allegedly having a role in the robbery of a Marshfield grocery store.

Back in July, a 13-year-old, who was referred to as DFO during the court proceedings, entered Wolf?s Grocery in Marshfield wearing a mask, holding a pocket knife and demanded money. Margie Wolf, the 96-year-old owner, refused to give him any money and he ran.

According to Detective Kevin Hamill of the Marshfield Police Department, when he questioned DFO about the incident he did admit to it, but he also said that 17-year-old Cordell Ellingson had encouraged him to commit the robbery. DFO told the detective that if Ellingson hadn?t encouraged him, he wouldn?t have done it. He also said that Ellingson told him if the robbery was committed they could use the money for gas and they could go swimming.

Ellingson has said that he had told DFO that he wasn?t going to rob the store, when DFO has called him to tell him that he was going to rob the store, and that DFO misunderstood the statement as a challenge. Ellingson has been charged with felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

After probable cause was determined, Ellingson did plead not guilty to the charge and he will appear in court again in November.
