Neillsville Finance Committee Prepares 2014 Budget, Part 3

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 -- 8:18 AM

-The Neillsville Finance Committee continues to hear reports from various committees as they prepare the 2014 budget.

Taking a look at some other notable budget increases or decreases from the Public Works Department, the machinery and equipment line of the budget, under the Capital Outlay Account, had a big increase from $17,000 this year to $52,000 in 2014. The big increase is contributed to the new front end loader the city is going to purchase.

Street construction decreased from $119,000 this year to $105,916 in 2014. Signs and Marketing decreased from $1,500 to $1,000, bridges and culverts decreased from $3,000 to $1,500 and storm sewers decreased from $5,700 to $1,000. Curbs and gutter increased from $15,000 to $24,250 and sidewalks and crosswalks increased from $2,000 to $18,000, but those increases can be contributed to future projects the city has planned.

All-in-all, the budget for the Public Works Department did increase to $959,112 for 2014, compared to $908,597 from last year.
