Several Reports Heard at Owen City Council Meeting

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 -- 8:23 AM

-The Owen City Council heard several reports at their meeting last week.

Tim Swiggum presented an income and expense sheet for the Indian Summer Fest Event that was held on September 7th. The net proceeds came to $203.42.

Mr. Swiggum also reported about no news on the Dollar Store, but an opposition sign has been seen. The railroad is working on the wooden bridge. The bowling alley building has been sold and it will become a distribution center for grocery items. A haunted trail is being discussed by the DRC and Chamber. Finally, he mentioned that Dave Konwinski will be in town and will meet with the City.

The minutes from the September 11th Parks & Rec. meeting were presented. Chairman Lulloff reported that the Boy Scouts would like to hold a ?Campboree? in the Crowley Park Campground in May of 2014. They will be given a special rate for using the entire campground. There could be as many as 100 scouts so it was suggested a porta potty be looked into. There have been hunters participating in the City?s goose hunt on the Mill Pond and bids are still coming in for the Mill Pond Park Improvements.
