Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 -- 8:19 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard several reports from various committees at their meeting last week as they prepare to put together the 2014 budget for the city.

One item of note from the Personnel Committee Report was the committee agreeing to have Police Chief Brad Lindner to contribute 9% to the cost of his health insurance. Also, regarding city employee wages, there were no extreme changes. The public works department will see a slight wage increase as well as the Cemetery/Parks crew and the library staff.

The Economic Development Commission heard a report from Sheila Nyberg, the Clark County Economic Development Corporation?s Executive Director. Sheila gave a report about the current employment rate for the county, 6.3%, and that there are 421 jobs available in Clark County as of now. She also said that Clark County employers and marketing are targeting areas outside the county to bring people in. Sheila did mention that she is looking into housing opportunities for the county as well.

In the end the Economic Development Commission approved their budget for next year at $57,800 which was trimmed slightly from last year.
