Jackson County Man Accused of Murdering His Father

-A Jackson County man is in jail accused of murdering his father.On Monday the Jackson County Sheriff?s Office was contacted regarding a welfare check on 57-year-old Brian Helgeson who had not been heard from in over a week. The family member that called also said they were worried about Helgeson?s son, 20-year-old Lars Helgeson.
Lars Helgeson was considered a person of interest in the investigation and police were concerned as it was indicated that Lars may be mentally unstable and that he was armed with two firearms.
Wednesday afternoon the Sheriff?s Department received a tip about the vehicle Lars had stolen. He had fled from police, but by that evening he had been caught without incident.
Brain Helgeson had been missing for 10 days before the Jackson County authorities were notified. And yesterday they did confirm that remains were found on Helgeson?s property that they believe are Brian Helgeson.
The Jackson County Sheriff?s Department believes that Brian was killed from a gunshot wound last week. An autopsy will be performed this morning and homicide charges are pending against Lars Helgeson.
