Thorp Man Sentenced for Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 -- 8:20 AM

-A Thorp man was sentenced in Chippewa County Court for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Back in October of 2011, Aaron Pogodzinski, age 25 of Thorp, was driving his truck in the Town of Colburn near Boyd last October when it left the road and hit several trees. 54-year-old Mark York, who was riding in the truck, died in the accident.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department determined that alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

Pogodzinski was sentenced to a year and half in prison and five years of extended supervision. He was also sentenced to make five presentations per year at schools in Chippewa, Clark and Taylor Counties about the dangers of drinking and driving.

Pogodzinski must also write letters of apology to York?s wife, mother and daughter. His license will also be revoked for five years and, when he does get it back, he will have an ignition interlock device on his vehicle for two years.
