Administrator's Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School District heard the administrator?s reports at their Monday meeting.

Bob Houts, District Administrator of Owen-Withee, said that CESA 10 is in the process of resubmitting a $30 million grant for Race to the Top from the Department of Education in Washington D.C. The project plan includes implementation of many of the initiatives currently being imposed on districts ion Wisconsin including educator effectiveness, Common Core Standards implementation and assessments, RTI implementation, one-to-one technology initiatives and individualizing students learning. The grant winners will be announced in late December.

Mr. Houts also congratulated the Junior High staff and students for being names a School of Recognition by the DPI. Morgan Mueller and Julie Kodl will be in Madison on October 8 to receive the award.

He also offered kudos to the Owen-Withee teaching staff for their fine representation at the joint in-service held at Spencer with Owen-Withee, Spencer, Colby and Abbotsford on August 26th. Several of the presenters/facilitators expressed how professional, committed and enthusiastic, Owen-Withee teachers were about the Professional Learning Community process and how far along the district is in implementing the concept.

Finally, Bob mentioned the policy committee will meet on Wednesday, October 2 at 5:00 PM to complete their work on the 400 series of policies.
