City of Neillsville Needs New Front End Loader

Friday, September 13th, 2013 -- 9:19 AM

-The City of Neillsville authorized the Director of Public Works, Dave Flynn, to begin the process of purchasing a new front end loader.

The city?s current front end loader is a 1992 model with over 10,000 hours of work on it. The public works department has spent a lot of money fixing the front end loader this year, with many of the repair bills totaling into the $1,000 amounts.

The city currently has $50,000 sitting in a ?kitty? that can be used for the new front end loader. Therefore the city would only need to budget for part of the cost of a new one. There were a few options the city could choose from regarding a new loader. If paid for out right, the city could get on a 5 year plan with a 2.8% interest rate. When using the $50,000, the city could get on a 3 or 5 year plan with the interest rate at 3.3%.

Also, during the meeting on Tuesday, the common council decided to move their 4th Tuesday meeting in October, which would be the 22nd, to Thursday of that week, which is the 24th, due to the special election primary for the 69th assembly seat taking place on Tuesday.
