Neillsville City Council Adopts 2033 Comprehensive Plan

Thursday, September 12th, 2013 -- 9:14 AM

-The Neillsville City Council, during a joint meeting with the Neillsville Planning Commission, approved an ordinance to adopt Neillsville?s 2033 Comprehensive Plan.

The Comprehensive Plan?s purpose, for any city, is to guide and direct efficiently the development of the city. A city?s plan is usually updated every ten years or so and Mayor Steve Mabie commented that this plan should be utilized more for future projects and development in the city.

The Planning Commission first passed a resolution encouraging the Common Council to accept the plan. The Common Council then accepted an ordinance doing just that.

The plan included many things about the city including economic development, partnerships, health initiatives, more specifically the Eat Right, Be Fit Coalition, linkage between different areas of the city and other issues and opportunities. There were a few minor changes to the plan approved with the ordinance.

The plan also included the results found during a survey which was conducted in the city.
