Osseo Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Death of 22-Month-Old Girl

-A 22-year-old woman has pleaded not guilty regarding the death of a 22-month-old girl.Back in June, police responded to a medical emergency call about Alexis Behlke, being unresponsive.
22-year-old Amanda Butts had been watching the girl, her boyfriend?s daughter, that morning. Behlke was rushed to Mayo Health System Osseo, but was pronounced dead a short while later.
The Osseo Police did arrested Butts at the end of July. According to the criminal complaint, Behlke died from acute intoxication from the combined effects of oxycodone, an antihistamine and an anti-depressant. Investigators found bruises on the child's body, and blunt force trauma to her head, chest, arms, and legs.
Butts did enter a not guilty plea by reason of mental disease or defect in Trempealeau County Court on Tuesday. A judge has ordered an examination.
Butts has been charged with first degree reckless homicide, which carries a maximum possible term of imprisonment of 60 years.
