Greenwood School District Named Title 1 School of Recognition for 4th Year in a Row

Friday, September 6th, 2013 -- 9:50 AM

-The Greenwood School District is very excited about being named a Wisconsin Title 1 School of Recognition for the 4th year in a row.

Jennifer Vogler, Greenwood?s Superintendent explained how Greenwood was picked.

"This is our 4th year in a row that we have received the School of Recognition Award. We are receiving this award because we're in the top 3 for accountability index categories for the school report card. In the elementary we're meeting expectations. We're in the top 25% of schools in Wisconsin for free and reduced lunches. We're also above average for our students in reading and mathematics when compared to schools of similar sizes and we're also meeting the states standards for test preparation, participation, attendance and drop out goals. So, we're doing excellent with all those things and 4th year in a row is really a huge accomplishment for our school district and our staff. We're very excited and very proud of everything our school has been accomplishing."

Miss Vogler as well as Greenwood Teacher Marie Eckdahl will be attending the award ceremony.

"We'll be attending the award ceremony in Madison at the state capitol on October 8th and Mrs. Marie Eckdahl will be attending the ceremony with me. She'll actually be the one who goes up front and receives the award from Superintendent Tony Evers."

Miss Vogler is excited to be one of the few schools in our county that was chosen.

"We're probably one of the only schools right around here. We have Abbotsford, Owen-Withee and Stanley-Boyd, but we're one of the only ones around the Neillsville area that has received this. So, another huge accomplishment, but that 4 years in a row is very huge for any school to accomplish. I'm just really proud of everything that our faculty, parents and community do to make sure we're being successful with our kids."

Congratulations to the Greenwood School District.
