CDA Director's Report at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard a report from Owen?s CDA Director Tim Swiggum at their meeting last week.Swiggum presented a report showing the expenses and revenues for Owen?s First Annual Car Show which was held August 17th. Swiggum reported the car show and burn out contest were a huge success and was well attended. However, concerns were expressed regarding the high price of the band, businesses on Central Avenue were blocked off and the holes created on Madsen Street from the burn out contest. All concerns will be taken into consideration for next year?s event.
Swiggum also reported that the Family Dollar project is looking at a new site in Owen just west of the OW High School and Indian Summer Fest will be held September 7th including a ?battle of the bands? event that has gained a lot of attention and participants. Karen Swiggum?s new business ?Ramblin Rose? is open for business and the CDA is holding a Business Growth Workshop on September 12th from 9 am to Noon at the Old School.
Finally, the council approved the Parks & Rec. Committee to move forward to re-roof the Mill Pond Park buildings and get bids and they also discussed Crowley Park and more signage on Cnty. Hwy. X regarding the railroad bridge and goose control.
