Insurance And TV Service Discussed At Neillsville City Council

Sunday, September 1st, 2013 -- 10:09 AM

Insurance and a TV service were discussed at the Neillsville City Council meeting last Tuesday.

Charter will no longer by giving the complimentary video service to the City of Neillsville. The city uses that service for their scrolling news and the broadcast of city council meeting. In order to keep that service the council had to approve a contract extension with Charter and get a basic cable package to keep it which they did.

Also, health insurance is going to increase for city employees. A single person or family under the city?s health plan will see an increase of 9.8%. If there were those under a retirement plan with the city, they would see an increase of 14.01%. When the new ?Obamacare? health law goes into effect, the city could see an increase of 20-25% to cover expenses.

A couple other items brought up during the meeting include Bauernfiend Business Technologies coming to city hall to begin the process of upgrade the technology infrastructure for Neillsville.

Also, Neillsville is having a feral cat problem at the former Golden Grain Storage Facility. However, the city is unable to do anything because the animals don?t fall under the definition of a feral cat. The council also mentioned that they may not have as big of a problem if people would stop feeding them.**
