Greenwood's New Principal

Friday, August 23rd, 2013 -- 1:54 PM

-The Greenwood School District?s new principal is already hard at work.

Todd Fischer was hired at recent school board meeting to take over as Greenwood?s High School Principal and Athletic Director.

Mr. Fischer took a moment out of his busy day to speak with me. He told me about his impressive background.

"I have a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Marion College," said Mr. Fischer. "I have a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and then my teaching certification came from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. My past experiences include being the 6-12 principal at Regis Catholic Schools for the past two years. Previous to that, I was a one year middle school principal in Tomahawk and previous to that I spent six years at Osseo-Fairchild as the 6-12 assistant principal and activities director there. Before Osseo, I spent three years at La Crosse Logan High School as the 9-12 activities director. Before that I was in Ocono. I spent five years in Ocono; four years as a middle school social studies teacher and coach and one year as assistant principal at the high school level and athletic director."

Mr. Fischer said there were three things that drew him to the Greenwood School District.

"It had the components of three areas that I enjoy. I love middle school students. I love being a part of middle school. I love being part of a high school. I like the athletics and I like all three and this job really gave me a chance to work in all three areas. I do like the small town family atmosphere and everything I've heard about Greenwood has been that small town family atmosphere. And even in the few short days I've been here, I've been feeling that from parents and staff and students especially. They've come and visit me already, asking me questions and just talking with me. I think I definitely made the right decision in being here."

Congratulations to Todd Fischer and good luck with your new position.
