Several Resolutions Approved at Recent Clark County Board of Supervisors Meeting

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 -- 8:29 AM

-Several resolutions were approved at the Clark County Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday of last week.

One resolution passed was the appointment of a humane officer for Clark County. As of now, Clark County has a deputy, Steve Struensee, who serves as the county?s humane officer, but Jacob Brunette, Corporation Counsel for Clark County, couldn?t find a resolution stating that fact.

Struensee is certified to be a humane officer and he can investigate animal abuse/neglect cases throughout the county. This position will not cost the county any more money as, it was mentioned, Struensee is already doing this.

The next resolution passed was Clark County opposing modifications to Wisconsin Statute 710. The statue talks about foreign ownership of land in Wisconsin.

During the recent budget/lawmaking process, the state government had looked at making changes to the statue. Clark County felt this wasn?t necessary and worried that it could have a negative impact on the farm and forest land that Clark County strongly relies on for income.

That statute modification was removed from the recent budget, but it's believed it could come up again this fall. Clark County passed this resolution to continue to show their opposition to it.

Finally, the board approved sending condolences to the family of a former board member that passed recently.
