Moving Neillsville Into 21st Century

Thursday, July 25th, 2013 -- 9:22 AM

-Moving Neillsville into the 21st Century.

That was the theme of the Neillsville City Council Meeting on Tuesday.

A couple months ago, the City of Neillsville began to talk with Bauernfiend Business Technologies about creating a network for the city. Currently, the city uses jump drives to update data from city hall, the cemetery, airport and other locations around Neillsville which the representative from Bauerfiend stated, ?was not a good idea.?

The council listened to the plan for city hall and the other locations. They were quoted a price of $7,765 dollars for a 3 year lease-to-own agreement, $6,125 per year for a 4 year lease-to-own agreement and $5,069 for a 5 year lease-to-own agreement.

However, those prices quoted did not include the police station as part of Neillsville?s network. If the police station jumped onto the new network, which the Bauernfiend Reps strongly encouraged as adding them later would require an additional $10,000 cost, the upgraded server would cost $2,500 more and it would add just over $600 to their yearly lease, or an extra $52 per month.

In the end, the city agreed to move forward with the larger server to accommodate the police station and accepted the 5 year plan.
