CLC Grants for Area School Districts

Friday, July 19th, 2013 -- 9:20 AM

-The federal 21st Century Community Learning Center grant program will be supporting after-school activities for students at 107 new sites throughout Wisconsin for the 2013-14 school year.

The 30 new grants and 77 continuing grants for second and third cycle funding total $7.8 million. Those 107 sites, along with 113 existing after-school program sites, are sharing $16 million in federal CLC grant money for the 2013-14 school year.

The CLC program considered grant proposals for 153 sites for the 2013-14 competition. Grants were awarded to community learning center proposals that will serve schools with 40 percent or more of students living in poverty, as measured by federal school meal income eligibility, and that serve schools with a high percentage of students who struggle academically.

Some districts in our area receiving new grants include the Marshfield School District with $100,000 and the Wisconsin Rapids School District with $75,000.

The Augusta School District will receive $75,000 in the second cycle of the CLC grant and the Osseo Fairchild School District will receive $50,000.

The Black River Falls School District will receive $50,000 for the third cycle of the CLC grant.
