Charges Filed Against Teen Driver Responsible for Rollover Crash

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013 -- 9:00 AM

-Citations have been filed against the teen driver responsible for a rollover crash in Marathon County that sent him and two of his friends to the hospital on Thursday of last week.

According to the Marathon County Sheriff?s Department, 17-year-old Nathan Koller of Edgar was driving down County Highway M, north of Fenwood, when he lost control of the vehicle. Speed and alcohol were factors in the incident and none of the teens were wearing a seatbelt.

Koller was airlifted to Ministry St. Joseph?s Hospital in Marshfield and was initially in critical condition, but as of Monday night he is now in fair condition. His passengers, 18-year-old Cody Wallis of Marshfield and 18-year-old Kayla Burtch of Stratford were hospitalized for minor injuries but have since been released.

Koller had five charges filed against him and they include operating left of the center line, drinking open intoxicants as a driver in a motor vehicle, reckless driving endangering safety, failure to keep a vehicle under control and failure to wear a safety belt. Koller is also facing preliminary charges of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

As for the two friends, Wallis faces a single traffic citation of failure to wear a seat belt and no charges have been filed against Burtch.
