Public Works Items Discussed at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Monday, June 3rd, 2013 -- 9:13 AM

-A maintenance resolution was approved during the public works portion of the recent Neillsville City Council Meeting.

The maintenance resolution is sent to the DNR to show that the city of Neillsville is in compliance with everything at the wastewater treatment facility. Neillsville did score an A in every category, but it was mentioned that just because everything earned an A doesn?t mean the system was perfect.

The common council briefly reviewed the rest of the report that was attached to the resolution. It was mentioned that the city will soon have to review its rate structure for water and sewer.

The replacement fund is doing well, but there are a couple big projects coming up in the near future the city needs to be prepared for. There are some manholes in the city that will need to be replaced at $30,000.

Also, the sewer main is going to need to be relined for $60,000, but when it's done, it's expected to last for 50 to 60 years.

The city also maxed out the plant twice last summer due to rain storms and the phosphorus compliance continues.
