DNR Invites Public to Meeting on Deer Hunting Improvments

Monday, June 3rd, 2013 -- 9:11 AM

-Wisconsin wildlife officials are planning a meeting to update the public on efforts to implement a Texas researcher's recommendations for improving deer hunting.

The Department of Natural Resources has set the meeting for June 8 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Attendees will receive updates and get a chance to ask questions about implementing the report's 62 recommendations, which include holding mini-hunts on private land and setting more localized deer population. The study's author, James Kroll, is expected to attend.

The DNR has tasked four action teams with finding the best ways to implement the recommendations. The teams have met four times since March. They will meet again on June 29 and July 20. DNR officials will then draft rules based on the teams' conclusions.
