Xcel Energy Files Application for Electric and Gas Rate Increase

-Xcel Energy filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to set new electricity and natural gas rates effective Jan. 1, 2014.?We continue our long-term plan to modernize our infrastructure to provide safe, reliable and clean energy to meet the needs of our customers and communities,? said Mark Stoering, president and CEO, Northern States Power Company-Wisconsin, an Xcel Energy company.
If approved as filed, a typical residential electricity customer would see an increase of approximately $6.50 per month, or 22 cents a day. Xcel Energy is requesting to increase overall electricity base rates by $40 million.
If approved as filed, a typical residential natural gas customer would see an increase of approximately $2.50 per month, or 8 cents a day. Xcel Energy is requesting to increase overall natural gas base rates by $4.7 million.
