Greenwood School Board Hears Instructional Update

-The Greenwood School Board received an instructional update at their recent meeting.

Five students in the Odysseyware virtual program were directed to return to in-person instruction. Middle/High School staff are now instructing students on four different platforms: in-person, virtual, quarantined, and Odysseyware.  The board also received a draft of the 2020-2021 School Calendar, received a report on the Block Schedule Study Group and reaffirmed that building use requests will be evaluated on a monthly basis. Focus will continue to be on those events which support students and children.  The board also reviewed initial Spectator Guidelines for winter sporting events.  The board also received an update on the 2020-2021 budget and received an initial report on the health insurance premiums for 2021-22. Their Health Insurance Cooperative will be requesting bids for the 2021-2022 plans.

The board also adopted the policies included in the 5000’s-9000’s and the 29-1 update with the exception of policies 5200, 7540.02, 7540.04, 7544, 8390 on a second reading.  The board conducted a first reading of revised Policies 5200, 7540.02, 7540.04, 7544, 8390.  The board also adopted policy 8450.01 on a first reading. The second reading/adoption will be done at December 14th Board Meeting.  Finally, the board reviewed the Statutory Employment timelines for professional and administrative staff; approved Stacie Wathke-Hinker as a Support Staff Substitute and Marixa Wepfer and Penny Wehrs as Mentors.  Finally, the board accepted the $1,000 anonymous donation to the Athletic Department.
