-The Christie Building Saga continues here in Neillsville. The Neillsville City Council continued the process and moved things forward at the meeting last week. The city has been battling over this building for a long while now and there could be several more hearings regarding the building down the road.
As of now, a receiver was approved for the building on Tuesday. A receiver is an indifferent person appointed by the court to manage the property of the debtor. A judge appoints a neutral person as receiver or conservator upon request of the Plaintiff.
John Schmitt Brauns, a construction worker from Medford, was selected to be the receiver for the building. John will also be doing the repairs for the building. He offered the city a quote on the work that will be done, which includes the floor beam, floors, roofs, restoring fire safety and more.
The cost is expected to be 13,670 dollars. And that doesn?t include electrical work, plumbing, any remaining cleaning that needs to be done and a few other items.
