Neillsville Residents Publish Book on History of Clark County

Friday, May 17th, 2013 -- 9:06 AM

-Two local residents have a book coming out about the history of Clark County.

Natalie Erpenbach and Stephen Roberts, Neillsville residents and longtime history buffs, gathered numerous pictures of historic Clark County to tell a story about the beginnings of the county and have created a book, through Arcadia Publishing, called Images of America: Clark County.

The book focuses on the history of the county and its cities.

The idea for the book about Clark County came about when Natalie discovered Arcadia Publishing?s book about La Crosse, where she?s originally from.

"Arcadia Publishing is the publisher and I've been a fan of their books," said Natalie. "They put out a series of books, Images of America, and the first one I bought was La Crosse, Wisconsin. I was born in La Crosse and looking through the book, I found a picture of my great aunt."

Natalie and Stephen had to go throw many different pictures from various sources in order to get the book put together.

"We spent time going through pictures that the museum had and reaching out to other in the area," said Stephen. "And then it was the process of going through picture after picutre until we thought we had it down to tell a story. You begin to learn that it isn't just a picture that you're looking for. You're looking for a picture that tells a story."

The book itself is available from Arcadia Publishing and other retailors for $21.99, but you need to wait until Memorial Day weekend to get it. The revenue made on the book will be used for a good cause as well.

"The biggest majority of the profits will be turned back in to help the various historical societies in the county."

Once again if you?re interested in purchasing the book you can buy it from Arcadia Publishing, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and from some local businesses and historical societies. The cost is $21.99 and it will be available Memorial Day Weekend.
