Gov. Scott Walker Will Tour Fire Damage in Northwestern Wisconsin

-Gov. Scott Walker will tour damage from a massive wildfire in northwestern Wisconsin today.

The wildfire has burned about 9,000 acres in Douglas and Bayfield counties and damaged 47 structures, including 17 homes, 15 garages, 9 outbuildings, and 6 others. Firefighters from 37 fire departments have saved 77 structures, including 42 homes. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Walker is expected to speak to reporters after visiting the area with natural resources, emergency management and other officials.

At this point, the fire is 100% contained. This forest fire is the 2nd largest in Wisconsin since the Oak Lake Fire that burned over 11,400 acres in Washburn County on April 22, 1980.
