Airport Plan Approved at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Thursday, May 16th, 2013 -- 8:11 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved the six year plan for the Neillsville airport at their Tuesday meeting.

The 6 year plan is required for the Department of Transportation and other government entities and the city updates the plan every 3 years. It must be done in order for the Neillsville airport to receive state aid.

The plan consists of projects that need and/or want to be done over the next 6 years. Those projects include the design and reconstruction of a runway and taxiway in 2013, land acquisition to clear runway approaches in 2014, installing lights and other items in 2015 and more.

The Director of Public Works for Neillsville, Dave Flynn, said that the 6 year plan is very flexible and more of a wish list. When asking for aid, various committees try to think of as many projects that should be done now and later so the airport can receive the appropriate amount of aid.

Several area citizens appeared in support of the 6 year plan for the airport.
