Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday

Friday, May 10th, 2013 -- 9:26 AM

-On Saturday, May 11th, the United States Postal Service, the National Association of Letter Carriers, and the Campbell Soup Company will be holding their Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive benefitting Feeding America, the Nation?s largest domestic hunger relief organization. Feeding America provides food assistance to 37 million Americans every year.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is annually held on the 2nd Saturday of May and has become the nation?s largest single-day food drive. In 2012, Americans donated over 70 million pounds of food.

Make sure that the items you leave are non-perishable items such as canned vegetables, pasta, rice and other similar items. The bags that Ron mentioned should have been delivered earlier in the week and they were produced by the Campbell Soup Company and they are showing their support again this year by donation one million pounds of food to Feeding America Food Banks.

If you?re unable to donate food on Saturday you can drop the food off at your local post office..

The great thing about the food drive is that all the food collected in our area will stay right here in the community. The Clark County Aging Department and the Neillsville Food Pantry will be the recipients of the donate food.

Don?t forget to leave your non-perishable items out by your mailbox on Saturday, May 11th.
