Jane Herr Blood Drive on Saturday

-BloodCenter of Wisconsin is partnering with the family of former Greenwood resident Jane Herr to host a community blood drive.The drive will be held Saturday, May 11, from 8:30am to 12:30pm at Loyal City Hall.
All attempting donors will receive a complimentary pass for four people to the Wisconsin Dells Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park, to be used between May 25 and July 3 of this year.
The drive is being held over Mother?s Day weekend in memory of Jane Herr, a local mother and grandmother who passed away in September of 2012 after a six-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
According to her sister, Cindy Puent, blood donations gave Herr the gift of time with her family. ?Receiving blood gave her an opportunity to fight, which she did to the end. Without the blood and platelets, she would not have been able to survive for those six months.?
Cindy says the family hopes to hold the Loyal/Greenwood area blood drive annually so they may honor Herr?s memory in the community where she grew up and raised her family.
?Jane was incredibly selfless; the type of person who was always doing things for others,? said Cindy, ?She was so grateful for the blood she received. It is something she would want us to continue to pay forward.?
