Marshfield Men Make Court Appearance for Death of Marshfield Woman

Thursday, May 9th, 2013 -- 7:19 AM

-Two Marshfield men made a court appearance for their alleged involvement in the death of a Marshfield woman.

Back in August, police responded to a report of a dead woman in an apartment. Syringes with heroin residue on them were found around the body of Kayla Vanderwyst and an autopsy found she died from a heroin overdose.

An investigation led to the arrest of Justin Drinka, age 22, and Trenton Blume, age 23, for allegedly supplying Vanderwyst with the drugs.

The two men were initially going to have a trial back in March for their part in the crime, but the trial was delayed. At a status conference on Tuesday, future court dates were set for June.

Both men have pleaded not guilty to her death and the charge of 1st degree reckless homicide. They remain in jail on a 10,000 dollar cash bond.

If convicted Drinka faces a maximum of 42 years in prison and Blume faces a maximum of 46 years in prison.
