Taylor County Man Sentenced for Possessing Explosives

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 -- 8:45 AM

-A Taylor County man was sentenced for possessing explosives.

Patrick Staton, of Gilman, was arrested back in April because he had allegedly been making improvised explosive devices and planned to kill a Taylor County judge, district attorney and sheriff's department detective.

The charges filed against Staton include possession of improvised explosives, four counts of felony bail jumping, one count of misdemeanor bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia, and threat to a judge.

During a jury trial at the end of February, Staton was found guilty of every charge except the threat to judge.

Staton was sentenced to 14 months in prison and 28 months of extended supervision.
