2013 Clark County DNR Spring Hearing and Conservation Congress, Part 4

Friday, April 12th, 2013 -- 8:07 AM

-Several citizen resolutions were brought up for approval at the 2013 Clark County DNR Spring Hearing and Conservation Congress on Monday.

These resolutions are written by Clark County citizens to address an issue here in the county.

The first was a resolution asking legislators take a second look at the mining bill passed for Iron County and involve the tribes more. The citizen that wrote the resolution felt that the tribes had not been included in the discussion of the mining bill and now the tribes of the area, as a form of retribution, are telling the DNR that they are going to spear more walleye this year.

Another resident agreed and elaborated on the amount of waste the mine will create.

Another citizen resolution brought up regard the Great Lakes Trout Stamp. As it stands, when a person buys the stamp, they don?t actually get one and the money goes toward restocking purposes.

A citizen felt that they should nix the stamp and raise the prices elsewhere for restocking or buy the stamp and give an actual stamp to the person.
