2013 Clark County Education Summit, Part 2

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 -- 8:32 AM

-Mark Hendrickson, Dean of Manufacturing and Special Projects at CVTC, gave a presentation at the 2013 Clark County Education Summit.

Mark?s presentation showed how, over the years, CVTC identified the increased need for skilled manufacturing workers like welders, machinists, manufacturing technicians and more.

Because of this, CVTC began to focus more on manufacturing and providing the training needed to fill those positions.

Six items were identified to help not only secondary schools, but also high schools, focus on creating better curriculum to provide the training students will need to obtain a successful career in manufacturing.

The six items are taking a statewide approach, provide advanced critical core manufacturing skills, support advanced technology, provide funding and training, market manufacturing careers, and building partnerships.

CVTC has already started several initiatives including tech camps, movie trailers, a career website and others.
