Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 -- 8:32 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard a report from a recent Joint Meeting between the Planning Commission and the Economic Development Commission.

Chris Straight, of the West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, gave an update regarding the city?s update to the comprehensive plan.

Chris when over some key points of a survey that was sent out to the residents of Neillsville. Of all the surveys sent out, 285 were returned which is about 24%. Though the number seems low, Chris said that was actually a very good turnout.

Of the surveys returned, 50% were filled out by those 65 years or older, which is also 21% of all residents, and 50% were retired. 85% had no children under 18 in the house and 60% lived in Neillsville for over 25 years.

Chris then went over some key components of the plan and then a timeline for the project was set.

A working draft plan will be sent to the planning commission for review by April 12th, on April 29th, both groups will meet again to discuss any changes and discuss and adoption process, and finally, the final draft will be sent to the planning commission by May 31st for a final review.
