Friends of the Fairgrounds Meeting, Part 2

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 -- 12:33 PM

-The Friends of the Fairgrounds Committee members continued to identify small and big projects at the Monday meeting.

The group identified the smaller projects that can be done by local 4-H, FFA, and other groups to work on if they are willing. The group also identified bigger projects that would need to be done at a later time with the right people and equipment.

Ideas on getting donated paint, for painting projects, and using air from a compressor to remove cobwebs were thrown around in regards to the small projects that need to be done.

The Forestry and Parks department mentioned that they?d like to see a new sign put up at the fairgrounds. With their current sign, they have a problem with the letters getting rearranged of disappearing.

A discussion was held on what kind of sign. It was determined that unless a big sponsor, such as Pepsi, Coke, or some other product, was will to help pay for a full digital sign, it would be far too expensive. Even a sign that uses changeable letters and can be locked up to keep people out can cost almost 5,000 dollars.

Another suggestion made was if non-profit groups would be willing to help, but a UW-Extension employee said that most have a list of priorities regarding who is going to get that money.
