Wood County Man Pleads Not Guilty for Second Homocide Charge

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 -- 8:43 AM

-A Wood County man has pleaded not guilty for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to kill his deceased ex-girlfriend?s boyfriend.

Gabriel Campos is already accused of murdering Maisie McCullough?s, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, back in the Fall of 2012. After initially pleading guilty, Campos changed his plea to not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. McCullough had been stabbed and her throat slit.

Later, it was discovered that Campos had attempted to pay an inmate 4600 dollars, give him a rifle and a car to kill the man McCullough was dating after they broke up.

Campos tried to hire the man when he was in jail and has had another homicide charge added to the one he received when he was charged for McCullough?s death.

Campos is in the Wood County jail on a 5 million dollar bond. He will appear in court again in May with his trial for McCullough?s death starting in June.
