Governor Walker Introduces New CEO of WEDC, Part 1

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 -- 10:25 AM

-Governor Scott Walker was in Marshfield on Friday and introduced the new CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Reed Hall.

Governor Walker said he hired Reed because, ?We needed to restore some credibility to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.?

Walker was referring to the blunder that was brought to the state's attention last fall. It was revealed that the WEDC lost track of more than 8 million dollars in past due loans.

Reed Hall, former Executive Director of the Marshfield Clinic, did serve as the Interim CEO of the WEDC. When he was appointed by the Governor last fall he had said, ?We need a strong leader going forward.?

When talking about the missing money Walker did mention that, ?It wasn?t all the staff?s fault. They?re actually doing great work.?

After an extensive search and looking at several highly qualified candidates, Governor Walker decided to offer the position to Reed based on the work he had already done for the department.

?Reed has a decisive vision moving forward,? Walker said, ?Everyone needs to be on the same page and Reed?s ideas will help us get there.?
