Security Updates and More at Loyal School Board Meeting

Friday, January 18th, 2013 -- 8:30 AM

-Security updates, school board elections, and the wrestling coop were discussed at the Loyal School Board Meeting.

The board went over the spring ballot for electing the school board members. They also discussed their wrestling coop with Neillsville and approved to continue it for the next school year.

The board went over the 16 resolutions that will be discussed at the School Board Convention next week.

They district also approved up to 12,000 dollars in security updates to the building. As of now, the main doors of the Loyal school are always left unlocked. The new system will install a buzzer that a visitor must push to enter. The secretary can see the visitor on a monitor and can speak with them. They can then allow the person to enter when an appropriate reason is given.

The board discussed sharing a choir teacher with Granton. No action was taken on the measure, but parents that attended felt the teacher needed to stay at Loyal full time, while the district felt they should share with Granton to trim the budget.

Finally, Cale Jackson, District Administrator, discussed a new video system with CESA 10. This allows teachers to tape themselves teaching a class, post it on CESA?s website, and then absent children can watch the tape to stay caught up.
