Marshfield Clinic Named Accountable Care Organization

-The Department of Health and Human Services has named the Marshfield Clinic an Accountable Care Organization.ACOs work to improve the quality of care provided to Medicare patients while reducing health care costs.
Since the Affordable Care Act was passed, over 250 ACO?s have been established to serve close to 4 million Medicare beneficiaries.
ACOs generate cost savings for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and share in those savings as an incentive.
The Marshfield Clinic was challenged to improve quality and reduce the cost of health care for Medicare patients.
The Clinic saved Medicare $118 million and received $56 million in shared savings.
