Stanley Prison Inmates Trial for Attempted Escape Starts in March

Monday, January 14th, 2013 -- 8:21 AM

-Three Stanley Prison inmates that tried to escape in 2010 will have their trial for the attempted escape at the same time in March.

In January of 2010, Eddie Evans, age 59, Jimmy Baldwin, age 34, and Henry Spencer, age 27, had release documents forged to get early releases. Evans and Baldwin did escape, but were caught a few days later. Spencer was caught before he was released.

As the court proceedings continued, Evans and Baldwin had the case, and charges, against them dropped without prejudice and only Spencer was set to have a trial for his part in the scheme. The trial was set to take place at the beginning of February.

Since then, the prosecutors and the defense have collaborated witnesses and evidence to hold the trials at the same time. At a motion hearing on Friday, Judge Roderick Cameron granted a motion to have Spencer?s trial at the same time as his cohorts.

Evans has the most charges filed against him as he was considered the ringleader of the attempted escape.

All three men have felony charges of forgery, attempted escape, and misappropriate ID info.
