Memorial Medical Center Foundation Funds New Equipment

Monday, January 7th, 2013 -- 8:32 AM

-The Memorial Medical Center Foundation proudly announced funding of new medical equipment for the Occupational Therapy and Lab Departments at the medical center.

The first piece of equipment purchased will be a new draw chair for the lab department. A large majority of patients at MMC utilize the lab department, and the current draw chair, although functional in nature, is in need of a replacement. The new chair will be more accommodating and comfortable for the patients as they are getting their blood drawn.

The Occupational Therapy Department will also be getting two new items to enhance the services offered to their patients. The first piece of medical equipment is called a Fluidtherapy Unit.

The second piece of equipment being purchased for the OT department is a combination ultrasound / estim unit. This unit is used for managing pain and inflammation after injury.

In total, the Foundation?s purchases for the equipment total over $11,000.00. The equipment will be purchased and ready to be utilized by our patients within the first few months of 2013.

Foundation Manager, Shelley Janke said, ?We would not be able to fund new equipment without the generous support of our sponsors and donors. The community really stepped up this year with donations. We are honored to be able to fund items that make a difference in the lives of our patients.?
