Trial for Stanley Prison Inmates Pushed Back

Friday, January 4th, 2013 -- 8:38 AM

-Two Stanley Prison inmates made an appearance in Chippewa County Court on Thursday.

In January of 2010, Eddie Evans, age 59, Jimmy Bladwin, age 34, and Henry Spencer, age 27, had release documents forged to get early releases. Evans and Baldwin did escape, but were caught a few days later. Spencer was caught before he was released.

The three men have charges of escaping from prison, forging documents, identity theft, and others filed against them.

At first, only Henry Spencer had a trial set for February for the attempted escape. Baldwin and Evans case had been dismissed without prejudice as the prosecutors worked on collaborating all the evidence and witnesses. They also took the time to tweak the charges filed against the men. Evans has the most charges as he was considered the ringleader of the three men.

The trial for Evans and Baldwin was pushed back from February to March as both sides agreed they needed more time to look at all the evidence. Two motion hearings were also set to allow both sides and the judge to look at evidence that may be brought into the trial.

Evans and Baldwin will appear in court again in January and February for the motion hearings and the trial will be in March. Spencer will appear in court at the end of January and his trial is still scheduled for February.
