District Administrator's Report at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012 -- 8:38 AM

-District Administrator Bob Houts gave a report at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.

Bob presented Tony Ever?s budget proposal for the 2013-15 biennial budget for education funding in the state.

The proposal calls for general aid, tax levy credits and high poverty aid into one pot of money to be dispersed through the equalization aid formula. If the proposal were in effect this year, the Owen-Withee District would have received about $320,000 more in state aid than the district actually received.

Bob also reported that he has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Rural School Alliance representing the region made up of CESA 10 and 11.

The Race to the Top grant, written by CESA 10, which includes Owen-Withee and 29 other districts, has been submitted. The grant is asking for $30 million over three years. The Owen-Withee District, as well as the others involved, should know by the end of December how they fared.

Bob mentioned that Mark Gordon and Rick Eloranta are up for re-election this spring.

Finally, the time of December Board meeting, for Owen-Withee, will be moved up to 5:00 PM to accommodate the elementary Christmas concert.
